With diabetes rapidly on the increase in Ireland and causing serious health risks, we are happy to offer you glucose testing.

A blood glucose test measures the amount of a type of sugar called glucose, in the blood. Glucose comes from carbohydrate foods. It is the main source of energy used by the body.

Insulin is a hormone that helps the body use and control the amount of glucose in the blood. Insulin is produced in the pancreas and released into the blood when the amount of glucose rises. Incorrect levels of glucose in the blood therefore could be an indication of diabetes or other conditions.

This screening involves a finger prick to obtain a small sample of blood which is put onto a strip and then into a machine which reads the level of glucose in the blood.

It takes 1 minute for the machine to read the sample.

We are also happy to offer advice to diabetics who are having problems controlling their diabetes.
